The Adrián Hoteles Foundation supports the Oncological Physiotherapy with the acquisition of specialised medical equipment: a "Low Power Laser Therapy" and a "Passive Gymnastics for Lymphoedema" machines, together with an electric stretcher, to receive the treatments, which has been donated to the Spanish Association Against Cancer - AECC
Oncological physiotherapy is a special treatment that aims to prevent, treat and / or resolve all the lesions that the oncological process can leave in a patient and that are susceptible to treatment with specific physiotherapy techniques
It is aimed at treating sequelae in patients of any age and affected by any type of cancer. It is an indispensable tool in the multidisciplinary team for the comprehensive rehabilitation of the patient.
The appearance of the sequelae is different for each type of cancer and for each person who suffers from it. Thus, the action protocol will be done individually, always taking into account the global nature of the patient.
Oncological physiotherapy may be necessary in the pre and postoperative tumors of the neck, head, pelvic tumors (prostate, uterus, ovaries ...), bone tumors, oncohematological, skin tumors and thoraco-abdominal tumors (colon, lung, breast ...) .
Any patient who develops symptoms (pain, urinary and / or fecal incontinence, respiratory distress, fatigue, lymphedema, trismus, hemiplegia, paresis, etc.) related to the sequelae of oncological therapy (surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormone therapy) is susceptible to treatment with physiotherapy.
The techniques used are diverse, depending on the moment of the process and the sequel to be treated. They are techniques adapted for the oncological process, non-invasive and with very beneficial results for the patient.
The main purpose of oncological physiotherapy is to improve the quality of life of the cancer patient.
